Now clicks when i hit ignition key but wont turn over and i cant jump the other solenoid out anymore. At the same time the boat was hardly used (only once in 2007).

Mercruiser 3.0 starter solenoid removal. I have a 1992 sea ray 170 with a 3.0 mercruiser i/o. I have a mercruiser 1995 3.0 lx, serial no. The slave solenoid won't cause a weak start condition so i would look elsewhere.
Slave solenoid replacement in merc 3.0l it was not at once. Find starter motors & remote mount slave solenoids for your mercruiser stern drive using the application chart from the mercury quicksilver catalog. Seems to be only one bolt on the underside which i have removed and its still firmly in place.<br /><br />i tried to jump the solenoid on the starter to see if it would crank and nothing happened so im assuming that the motor needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

And if it`s time for a solenoid, it`s also time to have the starter checked and/or rebuilt.plus the starter / solenoid needs to be sealed and you can`t always get it trying to install it when the starter is still on the motor. Large yel/red, large red/purple stripe, small yel/red ,small red/purple.look around the circuit breaker, the one with the red button. It started over a year ago and got progressively worse to the point that they mostly don't work (and yes, i tested). In my case, it was carbon build up on the solenoid plate and one of the terminals ôçô the carbon build up was so thick, that it was almost impossible to make the connection to the starter motor. Motor does no crank when key is turned.
